CLASS IN SESSION

Michelle Marcelline shares challenges and breakthroughs from validating her ideas and products.

In this short bonus series, we talk to marketers, experts and founders about marketing lessons they have learned from what has not quite worked out for them in their journey.

You know that feeling when you have a great idea for a new project, and you can’t wait to get started? But then you realise that you have no idea if anyone actually needs or wants what you’re building? Yeah, that’s not a great feeling. Before you invest a ton of time and energy into your project, it’s important to do your research and make sure that you’re solving a real problem for real people.

“The start up idea should be a problem that you or your community face.”

Michelle Marcelline

Michelle shares more about the power of validating your ideas. Your project or ideas should be a problem that you or your community face, and validate the problem with your potential customers before actually spending months building a product.

Talk to your potential customers, and see if they’re actually facing the problem that you’re trying to solve. If they’re not, then it might be time to pivot to a new idea. But if they are, then you can go ahead and start building with the confidence that you’re working on something that people actually want!

Even when they built the product, they kept in touch with the users and kept sharing minor updates.

“Validate the problem with your potential customers before actually spending months to build the product.”
