How to Take Anti-Racist Action as Creatives

As we are back from our muted silence on Instagram but we are back, hopefully, more educated, more aware, and with a better understanding of the wider issues affecting our world and its people still today.​

We don’t have all the answers, we are fully aware of this and we are dedicated to taking more action to support.  We are striving to do better and amplify Black voices by partnering with more diverse content creators at our events, in our videos, and on our feeds on social media.

We commit to create and share resources to help creatives and entrepreneurs enact change and make an impact in their communities – especially beyond social media. We have an incredible network of humans who can be educating and supporting others.

This is just the beginning, and these are micro-steps towards championing change, and we are eager to learn more and we commit to engaging more in these important conversations going forward and educating ourselves further.

Resources for everyone

“The beauty of anti-racism is that you don’t have to pretend to be free of racism to be an anti-racist,” says writer Ijeoma Oluo, author of So You Want to Talk About Race. “Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever you find it, including in yourself. And it’s the only way forward.”

We’re committed to using our platform not only to help creatives cultivate the brand of their dreams but to effect change. Ahead, we’re sharing some actionable ideas on how to combat racism, confront biases and prejudices, and actively work toward being antiracist with our community. We hope you’ll join us in doing the work.

When you are looking to spark more conversations in your personal life, our friend, podcaster and spiritual activist Hannah Wallace shared a great starter point to engage with better conversations with family, friends and everyone else around you can be found in this Anti-racist resource list.

Creatives and entrepreneurs alike are looking for guidance on where to start when it comes to adapting their strategies going forward to take long-term action.⁠ The best place to start is from a mindset standpoint. Don’t start with a mindset of “this is what I have already done”, embrace the idea of “what can I do better?”. ⁠
A great place to start could be to start collating a list of relevant people in your online space. Do not be afraid to ask for more recommendations to your community, if needed.⁠ This is something we’ll be implementing ourselves from this week – as a company, we know that this is a huge and challenging topic with so many layers and facets to it, so we are committed to showing up and being willing to help towards a systemic change.
